Web Design Process

web design process

During the website design process we always encourage clients to play an active role in the web design process, tailoring the solution to meet their needs.

Here at Redbak we use a tried and tested five phase approach to making websites, ensuring every project is a success. This ensures that regardless of budget or time constrains the project always stays on track

At every stage the design and development is evaluated and feedback is taken.

Phase 1: Defining site goals

The first phase of the web design process is defining goals and purposes of the website. Here we meet with the client in order to brainstorm about how the site should be developed.

This is necessary to identify

- Who are the target audiences and who will use the site?
- What will users do when they reach the site?

At this stage we also research and collect information about the site. We also take the time to look at what your competitors are doing to ensure you stay one step ahead.

Phase 2: Website design

Once we are happy that we have enough information on the target audience and we know what the client is wanting to achieve from the site, we begin the web design process.

Here we create the page in an illustration package to demonstrate to the client exactly what the site design will be before it is physically developed for the web. This ensures that we create a coherent, consistent layout style to unify your pages.

At this stage we also look at the way in which users will navigate through the site so it will be both usable and accessible.

Phase 3: Website development

At this stage of the web design process we take the design and actually convert this for the web.

Here we develop the site using the latest web standards to deliver sites that are accessible to more people and more types of Internet devices. The sites are checked once they have been created to ensure the pass various accessibility tests.

Once we are satisfied the site has been created to match the design brief and we are satisfied it is both useable and accessible we then show the client as it is ready to go live.

Phase 4: Website release

Here we upload the website from our testing server to a live site. If there are any final tweaks these can be done here.

We can then help with getting your site seen by various methods of promotion such as search engine optimisation to guarantee your site can be found on search engines.

Phase 5: On going maintenance

The website is now live and our job of creating the site is done.

We keep in contact with all our clients and regularly review their websites to make sure they are kept current in terms of graphics, navigation, technology and usability. We are always happy to help with any updates or changes that occur with the evolution of new technologies and business development. JUST ASK!
